Hubs is on vacation this week, and we're taking little day trips here and there. We've opted not to take the big trip this year with a 5 year-old and a 2 year-old. Can you really blame us?
I just wonder if others find that when you plan your trips around the kids, it sometimes seems they would rather stay home and follow their regular routine than go, say, to the rides on the boardwalk or bowling for an hour. My 5 year-old is at that age where he gets stuck in his daily routine and doesn't want to stray from it. Needless to say we're planning our vacation around fun things for HIM to do. I don't particularly want to spend the afternoon on the boards in 90 degree heat, thank you very much. I'd prefer to read a book by the pool, in the shade, with an iced tea. You get the idea.
I love my boys and want them to be happy. All the planning and scheduling events and functions for them is turning out to be in vain. I'm coming to find that sometimes they're happiest sitting in the air conditioned house playing games or watching tv . . . as am I.
Happy Summer everyone!
So true! I can picture so many stressed out families with little kids at Disneyland all cranky and crying. D-Land is an awesome vacation for families but sometimes they forget to include naptimes in a hotel and meals that are similar to home. Those really help the kids feel happier.
