I read an article today about an organization, Blankets for Love, that collects new or handmade blankets to be donated to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia cardiac unit. All children go home with a blanket after having heart surgery.
This organization is in honor of an infant who, at 2 days old, underwent his first open heart surgery. At the foot of the infant's bed was a handmade blanket given by a stranger as a token of admiration for the fight the infant, and family, had to endure. The boy is now 9 years old.
I have 2 handmade baby blankets that were never used. I donated them today.
