My Little Luke Skywalker

My boys love costumes. It doesn't have to be Halloween around here to find my kids dressed up as a super hero or Jedi fighter.

I came across some great Star Wars costumes at wholesale prices, and decided to get R, the 6 year old, this Luke Skywalker costume. He kind of looks like Luke Skywalker straight out of Star Wars, right?
The costume arrived and it appeared to be huge. I ordered a child's medium, and, as you can see in the pic, it's very roomy.

Fortunately, the costume is very easy to put on. The tunic just slips on with no buttons or closures but rather relies on the belt to hold it in place. The belt looks pretty cool and is large enough for my waist so there's plenty of fabric to wrap around R's tiny waist. The belt ties together in back making it easily adjustable for all sizes.

I was surprised to find the tan pants and boot covers connected as one piece. It makes it a bit difficult as far as fit goes with respect to height. The pants have an elastic waist to accomodate different weights, but if you're not tall, there's only so much rolling up or pulling up at the waist that you can do. Thankfully, the tunic can cover up any extra rolling up that may be required. Cinch the belt at the waist and most of the problem is hidden underneath.

As you can see in the pics, there's lots of excess fabric both in the tunic and on the pants/boot covers. I suppose a smaller size would have worked out better. All in all, it's a good costume. R is pleased with it and wants to wear it for Halloween this year.

The only thing left to do is add a light saber, which is not included with the costume, and your little one is good to go. May the force be with you!
