Happy Halloween everyone! I love Halloween because it marks the beginning of the holiday season for us. We go all out when it comes to decorating. Now that we have 2 little boys, I get even more excited this time of year.
Today, however, I'm not so excited. Baby boy was running a fever last night and low-grade this morning. He's asleep now on the couch in his Super Why costume. No trick or treating for him this year.
The little man has been coughing up a storm all weekend and wasn't exactly thrilled about today's Halloween parade and party at school. I'm not sure if the cough is really bothering him or if it's just another Monday morning. He did say he was well enough to go trick or treating, so off I sent Lightning McQueen to enjoy his festivities.
Having been up since 4:30am with baby boy and worried about both boys all day, my stomach is now a bit upset. I tend to be a worrier by nature. Anything above and beyond every day troubles really throws me for a loop.
I think that's plenty to scare me this year. Let's get this day over with and move on to Thanksgiving!

Booking Through Thursday
Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading. This week's BTT asks . . . What’s the hardest/most challenging book you’ve ever read? Was it worth the effort? Did you read it by choice or was it an assignment/obligation?
The most challenging book I've read to date is "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It took me a while to get into the rhythm of the writing and, perhaps because it is a translated work, it was a bit more difficult to read. It was worth it though. I'm glad I can say I read such an esteemed novel.

Musing Mondays
MizB at Should Be Reading hosts Musing Mondays. This week's musing asks . . . Do you listen to audiobooks? Why, or why not?
I don't listen to audiobooks. A few years ago, hubs and I took a road trip to Florida from New Jersey and had some for the ride. I found myself drifting, losing interest and paying more attention to the scenery than listening to the book. Definitely not for me. I like to hold the book, feel the book, read the book.

Book Beginnings on Friday
Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted on Friday by A Few More Pages. Want to play along? Share the first line (or two) of the book you are currently reading on your blog or in the comments. Include the title and the author so we know what you're reading. Then, if you would like, let us know what your first impressions were based on that first line, and let us know if you liked or did not like the sentence.
"It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York."
~ "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath
This definitely sets the tone for the book - executions and confusion. Definitely foreshadows the downfall of the main character, and author.

Booking Through Thursday
Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading. This week's BTT asks . . . Do your reading habits change when you’re on vacation? Do you read more? Do you indulge in lighter, fluffier books than you usually read? Do you save up special books so you’ll be able to spend real vacation time with them? Or do you just read the same old stuff, vacation or not?
It's been quite a while since I was on vacation, but based on what I can remember I continue to read whatever I'm reading at that time. I won't start a new book or save a book just for the trip. Vacation or not, I read what's on my nightstand.

Musing Mondays
MizB at Should Be Reading hosts Musing Mondays. This week's musing asks . . . Do you judge a book by its cover?
Absolutely. I'm definitely a cover lover. When I'm browsing in a bookstore, the cover is the first thing that catches my attention and usually determines whether or not I actually pick up the book to read the back cover. I would say I first look at the cover, then the title, and then I decide if I'm going to pick up the book at all.
