Book Beginnings on Friday
Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted on Friday by A Few More Pages. Want to play along? Share the first line (or two) of the book you are currently reading on your blog or in the comments. Include the title and the author so we know what you're reading. Then, if you would like, let us know what your first impressions were based on that first line, and let us know if you liked or did not like the sentence.
"Billy Litchfield strolled by One Fifth at least twice a day."
~ "One Fifth Avenue" by Candace Bushnell
I'm actually surprised the story starts with a male character considering the novel is set in a Manhattan apartment building occupied by mostly women. Given Candace Bushnell is the author, a la Sex and the City, I'm hopeful it will get juicy.
Aloha Friday
Kailani at An Island Life started Aloha Friday. Want to play along? I ask a question, you answer the question in the comments. You can also ask your own question on your blog and link up at Kailani's site. Here's my question:
What's your favorite flower - including color?
My answer: White calla lily.
Friday Finds
MizB at Should Be Reading hosts Friday Finds. What great books did you hear about/discover this past week? Share with us your FRIDAY FINDS!

A Moment of Beauty
I hate to keep harping on the weather, but it's been unusually warm on the East Coast lately. Yesterday was about 60 degrees and today is expected to be just as warm. Kind of odd for February 1st! I'm not complaining, just quietly waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I did, however, want to share what I woke up to this morning. Across my backyard I saw a complete rainbow. I don't think I've ever seen an end to end rainbow before. I couldn't capture the whole thing on my camera but here's a sampling:
It was so vivid and beautiful. I woke up R, the 5 year old, to look at it and really take it in since rainbows aren't something you see every day, especially full ones. It lasted for quite a few minutes and then was gone just as quickly. I'm glad I got to share that with him. I hope it's something he'll always remember.
